EDINBURGH JUNIORS

S1 - S3

The Schools Outreach Programme is an integral part of Edinburgh University Debates Union’s aim to foster public dialogue. It is intended to provide young people with tools to express their ideas through structured argumentation. Additionally, we aim for children to build up confidence and trust their public speaking skills, while engaging in debate as a way to broaden their minds with different points of view.

We are able to provide workshops to interested schools and we annually hold two competitions: Edinburgh Juniors (November) and Edinburgh Schools (March). They both take place on a Saturday, at the University of Edinburgh.

Edinburgh Juniors (for S1-S3) is an opportunity for new debaters to experience competitive debating in a fun Saturday activity. It consists of three rounds of British Parliamentary debating followed by finals.  Registration is open to all schools wishing to participate, at a £30 per team fee, with a discount for schools participating for the first time.
