Edinburgh B break at Euros!

3 Edinburgh teams competed in this year's edition of the European University Debating Championships (EUDC, or "Euros"), held in Novi Sad, Serbia this August. Our A team was Tim Squirrell and Richeal Ni Laoghaire; Edinburgh B was Mark Wilson and Anita Carroll; Edinburgh C was Vincent Koon and Cynthia Man. We also sent Gabriela Lis and Charlie Barnett to compete as judges.

Our teams had some solid performances in the preparation competitions in the run up to Euros. Edinburgh A broke at the Trinity Open. Edinburgh B reached the semi-finals of Newcastle Mixed Doubles and Imperial IV. Edinburgh C won the pro-am final of Glasgow Ancients and finished as top 10 speakers at St Andrews Open.

All three teams had some strong performances, especially on the first day. After 9 competitive in-rounds, Edinburgh B broke 24th (the last breaking team) to the Partial Double Octofinals. They were knocked out by Oxford B and LSE A (who went on to reach the finals).
